It’s a very long time since I turned the quarto pages of an illustrated Bible but I do recall Solomon’s tale of basing his decision on common sense and not being entirely clear why this made him so wise.

Trusting what we know to be right and acting on it may seem obvious but it’s wondrous hard. And it’s true; there’s nothing soft about emotional literacy. Developing steely cojones is fundamental to courageous action. This, happily, is just one of the consequences that strengthening Listening ability produces.
